You know when people are like “Oh, that song… that IS the 80’s”? I don’t tend to be the person who would say something like that, but I will. This song IS the 90’s for me. I loved it and it was on all the time on TV. Looking at it now, I don’t know why the video was so entertaining to people. The song was, but I don’t recall hearing it on the radio much.1 I’ll never let this song leave my heart. When I forget it, though I won’t realize it at the moment, I’ll be very sad. “Everybody knows that the world is full of stupid people, so meet me at the mission at midnight…” I think we can all relate to that at some point, and it was just a generally fun song that captured the escapism I longed for when I was a pre-teen. Kids at school sucked, I didn’t know my family was as awesome as they were, and I didn’t have much of a creative release. Let’s ditch this place. Let’s make a run for Mexico (aka. anywhere else). Things are so lame. Let’s get out of here. It’s the spirit of the 90’s in pop-rock form, and I still love it.
